Mohs Reconstruction Surgery

Located In New York City

The reconstruction of facial defects resulting from Mohs surgery for cancer removal requires experienced surgical planning and execution to achieve the most natural and least noticeable outcome. Dr. Imber has performed hundreds of these delicate facial reconstructions.

Dr. Imber is an internationally renowned plastic surgeon and has performed over 25,000 surgical procedures. He performs a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures in his New York City practice, popularized the S-LIFT, and developed the Limited Incision Facelift Technique. He has dedicated his career to helping his patients look as good as they feel, and always strives for the most natural results.

MOHS Reconstruction surgery

For many years, Dr. Imber has sub-specialized in Mohs reconstruction in order to make the defect as nearly invisible as possible. Having performed hundreds of these difficult procedures, Dr. Imber is both realistic and optimistic. Experience and ingenuity have allowed him to accurately predict the outcome based on the size of the Mohs defect and its location on the face.

Generally, the reconstruction is scheduled for the morning following the Mohs procedure, to allow for proper planning and consultation with the Mohs surgeon.

MOHS RECONSTRUCTION CANDIDATES AND GOALS

Once Mohs chemosurgery is performed by a dermatologist to fully remove skin cancers, usually on the face and nose,  a significant defect usually results, which is then reconstructed by a plastic surgeon. Dr. Imber aims to remodel the area so it is least noticeable as possible. Dr. Imber will review the entire surgical process.

What to expect and recovery

Reconstructive surgery happens the morning following your Mohs procedure. Once you arrive at Dr. Imber’s office, he will assess the defect to determine the surgical process. Dr. Imber and his nurses will review all surgical and recovery details with you and are available to answer any questions you may have.
