Microsuction
Located In New York City
Microsuction is a term Dr. Imber developed to describe a form of liposuction using tiny specialized instruments to remove excess fat in facial areas. It is a very effective, minimally invasive technique that can improve areas like corners of the mouth, the jawline, hips, abdomen and double chin.
Dr. Imber is an internationally renowned plastic surgeon and has performed over 25,000 surgical procedures. He performs a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures in his New York City practice, popularized the S-LIFT, and developed the Limited Incision Facelift Technique. He has dedicated his career to helping his patients look as good as they feel, and always strives for the most natural results.
Microsuction
Microsuction alone is among the most popular options in fighting the early signs of aging in New York. It is a procedure that Dr. Imber championed for many years to define the jawline, correct the double chin, and remove other small fat pockets. During this minimally invasive procedure, fine, sterile cannulas are used for the removal of fat at the corners of the mouth, the jawline, hips, abdomen, and double chin. Microsuction irritates the undersurface of the skin and seems to stimulate it to tighten and look better. The sum of all this is that if the fatty accumulations along the jaw and elsewhere are dealt with early by microsuction, not only are they eliminated, but the skin over them tightens and adds to the result.
Microsuction Goals
Microsuction is extremely effective at removing small pouches of excess fat alongside the corners of the mouth, along the jawline and neck, and the heavy folds that develop along the nasolabial line from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth. The goal is to remove these excess fatty pockets and, by default, tighten the skin in the area.
Microsuction Candidates
Someone who notices small fat pockets around their face in New York could be the ideal candidate for microsuction. Oftentimes, Dr. Imber combines microsuction with larger surgeries to optimize results.
What to Expect During Your Microsuction
Microsuction is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. A tiny hole is made either under the chin or behind the earlobes, through which the cannula is introduced. These sites are chosen because they make for easy access to the trouble spots, and they are not readily visible.
Recovering From Your Microsuction
The results of the procedure are immediate, though masked a bit by swelling over the first week or two. In general, there is very little bruising. The actual results mature over six or eight weeks. At that point, all the swelling is long gone and the skin is as taut as it is going to be.
Dr. Imber is an incredible physician! I was so insecure about the appearance of my chin and jawline. During my consultation, he took the time to explain the procedure and answer all of my questions. His staff was extremely warm and welcoming. I felt so safe going into my procedure and my recovery time afterward was a breeze. The entire process was seamless – I cannot thank Dr. Imber enough!
Words From Dr Imber!
“Microsuction is a procedure that I have championed for many years to define the jawline, correct double chin and remove other small fat pockets on the face. The incisions are invisible behind the earlobes or are a tiny quarter inch incision under the chin. The downtime is negligible and complications are exceedingly rare. It is the best procedure for facial sculpting.“

What Are The Benefits Of Microsuction?
Microsuction removes small fatty pockets in the face and neck, tightening the skin in the area and improving someone’s appearance. As a side benefit, microsuction irritates the undersurface of the skin and seems to stimulate it to tighten and look better. An area where this does wonders is the double chin.
Microsuction of the jawline and the pouches alongside the mouth should be considered whenever a patient is undergoing eyelid or other facial surgery. It is a disservice not to think of it, for so much can be gained so easily.
What Type Of Anesthesia Will I Receive? Will There Be Pain?
Dr. Imber’s board-certified anesthesiologist will call you the night before surgery to review all guidelines necessary for the morning of your surgery. Prior to this, Dr. Imber’s nurses will advise on medical clearance and discuss anything else you need to know before your surgery. Most patients receive local anesthesia with sedation and Dr. Imber’s anesthesiologist is on-site the day of your surgery.
How Long Will Recovery Take?
The downtime is negligible and complications are exceedingly rare. It is the best procedure for facial sculpting.
Are There Any Non-Invasive Alternatives?
Yes, there are non-invasive options, but none of the results are as rapid and predictable as microsuction.
Do I Need Any Special Garment Or Bindings?
No. We will provide you with everything you will need pre- and post-surgery.
Why Do I Need A Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon?
A board-certified plastic surgeon holds the highest levels of education and training needed to deliver the best results. This qualification is not easy to achieve, so by using a board-certified plastic surgeon, you also know they meet the standards of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Will There Be Any Scarring?
Usual incisions are a quarter of inch under the chin or behind the ear lobes.
How Much Does MicroSuction Cost?
Actual prices will be determined at the time of consultation. Schedule your consultation for a microsuction today by emailing or calling our office at (212) 472-1800.
